-Kingdom Waits- By: Alexandra Lane Imposter kings dot the map. They draw their borders in blood. Build up walls with broken dreams and empty promises of peace. But, these swords cannot repair the very wounds they create. They know they rule from a borrowed throne; and so, they claim legitimacy with oppression and fear. Their necks twisted-- waiting and watching for the next pretender in line to take the fool’s gold crown from their heads. But in the quiet, they wonder about the King history whispers of-- the One who commands heaven and earth with no army but Himself. The barefoot ruler who bears nations upon his shoulders. Rather than watch their backs-- instead, for Him, they watch the stars. Copyright 2018. Must the permission of Alex Lane before printing or publishing this poem. Title of painting: Love Knows, 2018
