In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.” – Maya Angelou Today marked 14 days of my 100 Day Project. It has only been two weeks, & I've already seen the difference the discipline of showing up daily to the creative process & commitment to growth has made in my life, in & outside of the studio. As I go, I'm taking notes on how to integrate this practice into other areas of my life. To be honest, I've surprised myself by how long I've stuck with it. I have tried this twice before & by day 7 or 8, I've moved on to something else. The project has definitely connected me to a much deep sense of self & the phenomenal women in my life, as well as those who've I've learned about as I soak in the stories of women--specifically black women, I encounter through my process of preparation. Allowing the power that resides in their beauty, resilience, brilliance, strength, faith, wisdom & elegance (just to name a few) to break me open & energize my creativity has been transformative. So, I've got 86 days more days to go. I'm looking forward to seeing what flows out & what surprises await. Thanks for taking time to learn about my process & support me as I go. If you have questions about the process and/or work, don't hesitate to email me or comment below. If you'd like to view the gallery of of the first 14/100 pieces click HERE.

![]() The Instagram creative community is filled with wonderful opportunities to challenge yourself to get in tune with your unique artistic voice & grow as an artist. Throughout the year there are a number of challenges people are invited to participate in, & I usually hear about them once they are wrapping up & think to myself "Gosh, I wish I had known about that." The latest #100DayProject journey many of my favorite artists on Instagram was so inspiring I figured--why not challenge myself, commit to the process & allow it to shape me? So, I decided now was the time to go for it! Over the next 100 days I will be creating a body of mixed media collage work. Each day I will make a new piece & post to the LAR Art Studio Facebook page. You can follow my art making process & cheer me on via my LAR Art Studio Instagram. 100 pieces--WOWZERS! I started August 1 and should end around the first week or so in November!
