![]() Over the weekend, Abbie (my studio mate) & I hosted a small studio warming gathering to celebrate & share another new beginning with our friends & the community. In January we moved studio spaces in Hardy & Nance Streets Studios, increasing our work space to achieve our entrepreneurial goals & flooding our studio time with some of the best natural light... and the exposed brick Brooklyn like walls hasn't been bad either. I love the space and was so thrilled to be able to share it with others who filled our studio with so much light, creative energy as they mingled & hungout, and so much love. It was perfect. It was perfect because, as most artists do I suppose, I sometimes doubt whether I made the right vocational decision or not. there are those moments, had a couple last week, when I have to stand up against my own insecurities about my work, the weariness of the grind and even my contribution as an artist. And last night was a great time of affirmation and absolute joy. It feels good to be supported & reminded that you are not in this thing alone. I'm so thankful to all of you who made time to stop by, or text, or call, or even think and send well wishes via email & social media. They all energized me and helped to further ground me. I am especially thankful for & cannot end this without giving a HUGE shout out to my best friend & life partner, Cleve. I am able to take each new step vocationally because he is right there beside me. Each day he works hard to make it possible for us to simultaneously pursue our work goals & life dreams... bearing with me the costs & sharing with me the wins. When I finally mustered up the courage to speak out loud what I needed to do vocationally in order to thrive & live from my core, he never asked me to wait or doubted my discernment. He has constantly cheered me on, helped me figure out a game plan and shows up. It is a gift... it's fuel. I am looking forward to more opportunities to host gatherings in the space, but especially excited about the new workshops I am offering that will happen around the new wooden tables built for me by my friend Mr. Willie. So Studio D is now the place where my creativity blooms. Do let me know if you would like to stop by or participate in one of the creativity studios or Art as Prayer Workshops I am offering this year. Would love to host you and share life with you around the table. A few precious memories from Saturday...
