"Paint is just another way of keeping a diary." -Pablo Picasso
July 29-August 4, I had the privilege of teaching a week long encaustic painting course at the Grunewald Guild in Leavenworth, Washington. This was a week of deep listening, silence, connection, of being in awe of the natural world, + poetry. Each day I sat with the words of poets like Lucille Clifton, David Whyte, Mary Oliver, Christian Wiman and Ciona Rouse.
There was a different exploration of my own visual vocabulary that happened in this space + time, which led to me creating works that were warm, textured + layered.
Below are selected pieces from the collection I made at Grunewald.
It is a delight to be able to share this work with you.
